Margaret Thompson Sadler

Margaret Thompson Sadler, 88, passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
She was born in Mansfield, Ohio, July 21, 1920 to the late Joseph and Edna Baker Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years of marriage, Albert A. Sadler.
She received a B.S. Degree from Ohio State University, Master Degrees from the University of Maryland, the University of Georgia, and an Education Specialists Degree from Georgia Southern University. After serving as a 1st Lieutenant, Army Nurse Corps, combat duty, Europe, WW II, she went into the field of education. She was principle of Bloomingdale Elementary School from 1968 – 1970 at which time she became the first principle of Largo Tibet Elementary School until her retirement in 1985. Subsequently, she served as the 6th District Representative of the Savannah/Chatham School Board. She was involved in many civic and educational organizations including serving as President of the Chatham Retired Teachers Association, TROA Auxiliary, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was the first member of the Southside Optimist Club where she was known as "The Official Hugger". Throughout her life she dedicated herself to many causes and touched many hearts. She will be greatly missed by her proud family and many friends who loved her and whom she loved.

She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Joe and Ginny Sadler and two grandsons, Jody & Hunter Sadler, all of Savannah, GA.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

I was a student at White Bluff Elementary in the 1960's. Your mother's class was across the hall from mine, so I saw her everyday. She was a disciplinarian, but was also very kind to the students. I'm very sorry for your family's loss.
